What this PDF repair tool fixes
Most broken PDFs have a damaged index. The cross-reference table tells a viewer where each object sits, and when it is wrong the file will not open.
The repair uses qpdf to rebuild that table, correct bad object offsets and write a clean file. If that fails, a tolerant parser tries a second rebuild.
What it cannot recover
Repair can only work with data that is still in the file. A download that stopped halfway, or pages that were never saved, cannot be brought back. Once the file opens, you can extract the pages that survived or delete the broken ones.
