How to Add an Image to a PDF

Getting the size and position right
The image keeps its proportions inside the box you draw, so it is never stretched or squashed. Draw a wide box for a wide logo and a tall one for a portrait photo, and the picture fills it as closely as its shape allows.
Use the largest, sharpest version of the image you have. A small image placed in a big box looks blurry in print. Scaling a large image down into a small box stays crisp.
For a logo on a letter, a PNG usually looks cleaner than a JPG, because JPG compression can smudge sharp edges and flat colors. For photos, JPG is fine and keeps the file smaller. If the finished PDF is too big to email, compress it before sending.
Insert an image into a PDF as a new page
Placing an image on an existing page is different from adding it as a page of its own. For a full-page photo, scan or diagram, turn the image into a PDF with JPG to PDF, then join it to your document with Merge PDF.

How to add an image to a PDF on a Mac
